Where are the Best Cheap Eats in San Francisco, California?

Where do I even begin….maybe it’s the nice brisk walk past the crackheads and “street vendors.” to get there…or maybe it makes sense to start about 20 minutes earlier when you convince a co-worker to be your wingman (the buddy system in full effect when cruising to 6th and Mission). Once you actually get past the narrow door frame, you find yourself immediatly on top of about a dozen other patrons and you get your first glimps of the local famed executive chef. He can be easily identified by having a towel rolled and afixed to his neck by a rubberband to ensure that his sweat doesn’t contaminate your meal. Ok, now on to the service…(crickets)…Ok, now on to the menu. Thankfully they are laminated, which serve a dual purpose. 1) You can physically prop it open without having to have any actual skin-to-menu contact 2) The plastic used to cover the menus also helps offset the change of any grease fires. I’d dedicate the remainder of the review to the food, but it’s something

Went to Q for my boyfriend’s birthday on Friday 5/2. Luckily we went there around 6:30, found a parking right outside and got our seat right-a-way. Customers came after us got to wait a bit.He ordered burger with garlic fries & root beer float, and I have ordered mussel & risotto & a glass of house Merlot. We both love this place! All food we have ordered were tasty! His burger was not come with a slice of cheese, but a big “cube” of cheese! You know, the cube was about 1 inch thick! Maybe that’s why you won’t think a $8-9 dollar burger from Q is overprice. The price for the whole meal was about $50 after tips! With different choices of food (He loves burger and I don’t) and reasonable price, we will go back again.Pros + food & food!Cons – parking. Have an early dinner and you could find your parking and seats.

This has got to be the best food I have ever had in my life! Great prices too! I live in Sacramento CA and I have never felt like I needed to drive 2 hours just to eat somewhere and Asqew Grill makes me CRAVE their food. Everything is grilled so while it is super tasy ,it is super healthy as well. After eating their food you don’t feel bogged down and gross. I highly recomend the artichoke starter. It has a sauce I believe called soy beurre blanc…that is absolutely to die for. The sauce is an absolute explosion of flavors in your mouth. I get the artichoke all to myself along with a skewer platter…and I won’t share….thats how good it is:-) I have pretty much had every thing on the menu as far as the skewers go and I have yet to be disappointed. My favorite is the grilled ahi tuna. The best salad in my opinion is the grilled pear, yum, yum!I have only been to the one location on the marina. I wish they would build an Asqew in or near Sacramento…Anyways you must try this place!

We stopped into Chow on a Monday night at around 530pm, on a pre-concert excursion to the City. We were seated immediately. We weren’t sure who the wait staff actually was, but the bar keep offered to take our order. The food came quickly. The mussels were excellent, fresh and tasty with lots of sauce for dipping fresh bread. Our Thai Chicken Salad was tasty, crisp and very fresh and colorful. We were in and out of Chow in about 40 minutes which was great because we had a time limit. We had 4 small dishes, 2 shorty beers and the tab was under $40 (sans the tip). After reading mixed reviews on this site about the food and service we were at first hesitant about Chow. We had a really great experience! It was just the right amount of food and very fresh. We will definitely go back!Pros + Fresh food, casual, small plates/good valueCons – Parking

They have increased their prices over the last few months so the value for money is not as high. The tandoori chicken wraps are very good sized, and the chicken tikka masala is my favorite. They marinade and broil the chicken bits before cooking it with the sauce so the chicken is flavorsome but still retains the tenderness. The portions tend to be single-serve so this is not really the place to order family style. It is a also great regular for tasty Indian food that isn’t too greasy!Pros + Tasty Indian food at reasonable priceCons – Avoid the long lunch queues by going before 12pm or after 2pm
