I made the long trek to Emeryville to buy some Guns N Roses tickets from a guy off craigslist. I know GNR is without Slash but I never got to see them back in the day. It was either now or never and I was getting a good deal on these floor tickets. I arrived early and figured I would squeeze a lunch before the ticket deal went down. Asqew Grill has been on my personal list for some time now and it was my luck they had one at the mall. They open at 11 and I was probably the 2nd customer of the afternoon. Yes, it appears to be chain but as of right now, it’s a bay area chain which is fine in my books. I doubt this is a mom and pop operation as it’s apparent there’s some serious dough backing this place. Everything is new, nice, clean, and modern, all the touches of venture capitalists just eager to earn more money. From what I’m told, the thing to get is the skewers, a side, and something to wash it all down. I ordered the full order of 2 shrimp skewers, cilantro jasmine rice, and a wa
Wow, these are seriously some good taco’s. I had a shrimp taco & beef taco both with the make it super option(adds, sour cream, guacamole, cheese, lettuce & tomato). I think next time I’ll just take the taco’s with sour cream and none of the extras from the super option. They were good but my tacos became a scattered taco/meal to eat with a fork at that point. There salsa they put on them can either be mild or hot, I chose the hot option, It was hot, but not a 10, more like a 6-7 range, thats some good heat. Inside Pancho Villa is super clean, which is always pleasing. They have even won some serious state fair awards for the salsa. Staff was very cheerful which just added to an already pleasant experience. I can’t wait to go back :-).
This has got to be the best food I have ever had in my life! Great prices too! I live in Sacramento CA and I have never felt like I needed to drive 2 hours just to eat somewhere and Asqew Grill makes me CRAVE their food. Everything is grilled so while it is super tasy ,it is super healthy as well. After eating their food you don’t feel bogged down and gross. I highly recomend the artichoke starter. It has a sauce I believe called soy beurre blanc…that is absolutely to die for. The sauce is an absolute explosion of flavors in your mouth. I get the artichoke all to myself along with a skewer platter…and I won’t share….thats how good it is:-) I have only been to the one location on the marina. I wish they would build an Asqew in or near Sacramento…Anyways you must rty this place! P.S. the banana split is amazing too!Pros + the food itself is amzingly awesome and fresh..Cons – There is not an Asqew near Sacramento:-(
