Where are the Best Cheap Eats in San Diego, California?
I don’t know about this place…. it took them well over 40 minutes to hand over a BBQ chicken pizza, which costs $17 and was far from great. True, I ate it, but it was lke they put NO effort into making it taste good it at all– all chewy and very basic sauce on there. But, who knows, maybe I just got the one kind of pizza that is not all that. I think the prices should def. be brought down a peg or two for the quality.
I love the Coffee Cup for a nice sunny lunch break in downtown La Jolla. The unpretentious, simple interior and sidewalk seating are the perfect answer to a warm San Diego day, and a nice contrast to the rest of the neighborhood. My favorite item would be anything on the rosemary bread which is always soft and delicious. The BLT is always a great bet. My only problem with this place is that it closes so early that a late lunch is a complete impossibility. Pros + Great atmosphere, Excellent foodCons – Parking, Short Hours

I am a longtime fan of Ranchos, having lived in OB they were my favorite place to eat breakfast and dinner at. Ranchos N.P. has all the same great food, the same great ambience, so you will not be disappointed. However, in my last year of going to Ranchos N.P. I have gotten some mediocre to bad service. Sometimes it has taken so long for them to even realize they have more people there that we have waited up to 15 minutes just to get menus and a glass of water. I was also disappointed that they began charging for salsa and chips (although I think they may have discontinued that…for good reason!). Ranchos gets an A for food, but only a C for the service. Fortunately though, service is easy to change.
