Where are the Best Cheap Eats in San Antonio, Texas?

Every time I come back to San Antonio I go straight to Cha Cho’s for the deluxe plate. It’s a lot of food. A tostada, 2 Enchilada, Rice, beans, and a beef taco, but it’s in a huge plate. When I was in Iraq I craved this place. I love the fun atmosphere, the killer margaritas, and the good food. The one thing I can say that I hate about this place is that during peak business hours there is NEVER any where to sit. It’s soo small. You have to send someone to sit before you order. I’ve seen people standing with there food waiting for a table. And taking kids during fri, sat night not a good idea either. It’s just way to crowded. But it is so totally worth it.

I’m a bit surprised by the negative reviews Tip Top has gotten here since they were on Triple D. I have enjoyed eating here since the mid-90s, and not a thing has changed since I started eating at Tip Top.For starters, I’m a huge fan of their onion rings. Tip Top is one of the few places that doesn’t just completely drown their rings in batter. I like that the sweetness of the onion comes through loud and clear in their rings instead of the taste of oil and salt one usually associates with the appetizer.Their chicken-fried steak is heavily battered, but I have no complaints there because that’s how I like it best. The gravy they put under it is delicious too and the portion size is pretty generous in addition. I can live without the fries they serve with it though. I have also tried their fried chicken and came away impressed; juicy inside, crispy outside. The cheese enchiladas are pretty solid; a bit greasy with lots of cheese, but still good. Their homemade pies are pretty so

This was my second visit fo this restaurant. My recommendation: if you are going there for dinner, stick with the appetizers, and drinks, which are delicious! I made the mistake ordering off the dinner menu We ordered a kebab, a rice dish and a sandwich, The kebab was good, but the rice was mushy and tasteless. We also ordered a rice main dish – also mushy without much taste. Pros + Appetizers, drinksCons – Mushy rice

Although you have to wonder about a restaurant that’s totally yellow and green on the outside, the food is GREAT, and there’s lots of it for a VERY reasonable price. The Macho Burrito is an original, and more burrito than you’ve ever seen before on one plats – guaranteed to fill you up. A great place to take the family.

I am a Native San Antonian, and I recomend it for special Dinners, but make sure to call for reservations because seating room is minimal. Worth the wait with North Star Mall across the street to walk off your meal and find anything you want for the whole family.Pros + the lobster, anything fried
