It was a very unique experience. The hostess made it very clear that kids were not welcome with her very aloof attitude. Once we got past that bitch it was an fun time.

Great place to get a good meal for a very cheap price. Its out of the way but worth the effort. Simple diner food, don’t expect anything spectacular. Great prices for the end of the month when the checkbook is just about bare

I’ve been to Hoda’s four times and I had a good experience each time. It’s my boyfriend’s and my favorite restaurant in town. Every time we’ve been there, we were greeted warmly and seated pretty promptly. Once we went there at 9:30 when they were supposed to close at 10, and when we shyly asked if we were too late, everybody at the restaurant said no and seated us for some yummy Middle-Eastern food. Their bread is good, their rice is delicious, and their shawarma sandwiches cost as much as they do in Phnom Penh (where eating at restaurants is a lot cheaper than in Portland). I don’t know where people get better service for less than what they pay at Hoda’s, since so many people are complaining about the over-priced-ness. I guess a lot of the reviews have people complaining about the vegetarian dishes, I’m carnivorous so I get their meatier dishes. I had only had shawarma sandwiches before moving to Portland, but now I am in love with the shawarma plates. I enjoy the lamb at Hoda’s. I

Came in a a cold weeknight with some friends who had been before. Just wanted some cocktails and dessert crepes. It certainly owned up! I can’t remember the name of my cocktail (they need to post their cocktail menu on their website) but I know it had Chambord and 2 other liquors in it… delicious. And I was craving un Chocolat Banane crepe and it did the trick (but now that I’m writing about it I need another)!Also enjoyed their game selection and we noticed after a while that everyone else in there was also playing a game – what fun!The atmosphere at le happy is cozy and warm (love the red walls and burst of flowers over the bar) and it was beautifully decorated for Christmas.Pros + cocktails, um – crepes!, games/atmosphere
