Where are the Best Cheap Eats in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania?
My date and I went out for the jazz duo and had dinner, drinks. It was comfortable and intimate. The server was nice and the bartender makes a great drink. The bar has neat sliding shelves. The place is small enough to be able to talk to your date and still hear the music. I had the french onion soup which wasn’t so great but the 2 dirty martinis made up for it. My date had an average caesar salad. The vocalist and guitarist were fine but I wouldn’t really go there just to hear music. It’s laid back enough to head there for drinks and food on a weeknight. Overall, I’d definitely go there again even though it was a little far south for us and ended up taking a cab ride back. If you live in the area, do stop by at L2. The bartender makes the place.Pros + great martini, small and intimate, romanticCons – okay menu selection, needs more jazz, nights with variety
I have been going in Doobies for more than 3yrs and I must confess that is a very friendly and cozy environment. I had the chance to meet Marko the bartender and from him to make friends with the neighborhood. I think the place is great for people who are new in town.Pros + meet people, service, food and drinksCons – parking
Woodydunck isn’t kidding when he calls Sassafras burgers “bangin’!” They are simply the best in Philadelphia, hands down! Every possible combination of chesses and sauces is available. I recommend you mix and match…experiment. But there are much more than burgers on offer in this Old City institution (30yrs on the block and still going strong.).Check out the homemade Mongolian Dumplings or gooey French Onion soup. …or, just stop in for a relaxing drink with the knowledgable and friendly barstaff. These guys pour a killer martini…old school style! Basically, Sassafras is an all round winner!Pros + Best Burgers, Great Drinks, Romantic Spot
