Where are the Best Cheap Eats in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania?
Definitly the place to go for a chicken cheese steak if you are on South Street or even just in Philadelphia. I have not tried their traditional cheese steak so I cannot comment on that but I have had both their regular chicken and buffalo chicken cheese steaks and both were exceptional. If you are not in a hurry and the seats are available (there is very limited seating) I would suggest sitting in. My girlfriend was turned off when we went there on a summer evening because it was not air conditioned but once you sit down the breeze from the fans and the open store front are enough to keep comfortable. Big portions, both times I have been there I only needed to eat half the sandwhich to feel full, save it for leftovers or plan on splitting it with a friend. The large cheese fries are very big. The staff is most helpful. I have even had times when they say “not” to order something.Portions here are ample. So, even though you get the impression that each person gets an individual entree, you can certainly share, as you do in a Chinese restaurant. This is an important thing to remember – because you really don’t need an individual dish per person.Everything I have had there has always been very good, but when sharing, I would move to such things as the shrimp, scallops, squid with salt and pepper. This is a great dish and , with the rice, is sufficient for two. Clay “dish”items are also very good, but not always enough to share. ( They are not called clay “dish” but the mindless guard
