Where are the Best Cheap Eats in Orange County, California?

I’ve read the previous reviews and can’t believe THAT many people love this place. A few of the reviews gave 5 stars even when they had complaints about refills and “cash only” policies?! If your complaining then it’s not a 5 star restaurant! I grew up in Anaheim and have eaten at Mexicasa only 3 times. No one in my family ever enjoyed the food but returned only because some family friends LOVED this place and we would dine out with them every so often. The food was bland every time and I tried different items each visit thinking the problem was me. I am not a fan of spicey hot food but I do enjoy flavorful food and that is a signature of mexican dishes. It’s been called “authentic” mexican food and a “good value” because of the prices and service. I won’t argue about the prices and service being good, but it’s not a good value if the food is not enjoyable. I’d be interested to know what region of Mexico this style of cooking is from, because I’ve never had watery tacos and bland chili

THe food was good. The atmosphere/ cleanliness not as good. Service was good. Loved the biscuits that come with the meal. We didn’t care for the sherbert or the cabbage. But Overall the fried chicken and mashed potatoes were fine. They were hot. The line wasn’t long at 2pm on a Saturday. The price wasn’t value, but it wasn’t expensive, either.Pros + biscuits, chickenCons – ambience

My girlfriend and I have been working about a block away from this location for a few months and have just moved in to an apartment near it, so we’ve been in there a fair number of times. We originally went into it one morning hoping it’d have some of the more authentic Mexican breakfast items, like Machaca and Chorizo and were not disappointed… And have since tried a bunch of the other menu items. We usually get their burritos — they’ve got a fairly wide selection of them, all in the $3-$4 range, all nice and large (over a pound) and served in a grilled tortilla that tastes like they make it in-house. The only thing we’re less than completely happy about is that they only take *cash* and that the in-store ATM involves a $2 surcharge.

What is there to say about In-N-Out that hasn’t already been said? The family owned and operated burger chain is the exemplification of the mantra “Do one thing, and do it well.” The In-N-Out hamburger is one thing the West Coast (particularly California) could brag about, and where anyone else would not have an answer. To have a hamburger made consistently well and be so accessible in California is merely a dream in other places. In-N-Out’s tried and true combination of fresh produce, fresh sponge buns, and delicious ground beef patties in tandem with what many consider the best french fries ever made (in-store cut potatoes fried in cholestrol-free vegetable oil) have made it a mainstay in the Californian’s diet. When you visit California, there is only one kind of fast food chain hamburger that is acceptable, and that is the In-N-Out hamburger. Pros + Best Fast Food Chain Hamburger on earth.Cons – Seemingly daunting lines; especially peak hours (11-1

At Bamboo Bistro tasty sauces are combined with fresh ingredients and perfect cooking times to create very tasty dishes, rice based and noodle based. Portions are smaller than average for the area. There is enough for a satisfying lunch, but you won’t be considering a dogie bag — which is nice for a change, especially as the savings are passed on to the customer with Bamboo’s low prices. Service here is hit and miss, depending on who you get for a waiter. But, the chef is always spot on with great sauces and superb wok technique.
