Where are the Best Cheap Eats in Orange County, California?
I know this is a sandwich place, but they have the best Iced Coffee around! So good, I usually buy the quart and take it home. It’s true what one reviewer said about putting half the cup full of ice. If any of you have never had Vietnamese coffee, it’s very strong. Putting a lot of ice in there means you can drink it slowly until the ice melts and dilutes it. If you drank a whole cup without the ice, you’d be pretty jittery. Anyway, as far as the food, your typical Vietnamese sandwich is probably an acquired taste. The basic ones have BBQ or grilled pork or chicken and then is topped off with pickled daikon and carrots, cilantro, and a jalapeno. Pretty good in my book, but not everyones. They also have various types of desserts in here and most of them are decent.Pros + Great coffee, Delicious breadCons – Can be crowded at any time
Our friends have been going to Zubies for years, so we finally decided to check it out – we loved it and have returned for numerous meals! Great menu, with good variety. The food is very good, fresh, huge portions with reasonable pricing. More of a sports bar atmosphere, but family oriented – a place you can take the whole family. No table service (that’s they only thing I don’t like!) It’s always crowded. We like to go Sundays @ 5:00 when its not so crowded. We call it feast day!Try the Cajun Catfish or the Alaskan King Crab two of my favorites! You will not be disappointed!Pros + Reasonable pricing with large portions. Food is fresh always prepared perfectly!Cons – No table service
I visited Amazon last night and came away very impressed. the amosphere is alive, the decor is beautiful, as if in a rain forest. the service was outstanding, and the salad bar was good. I don’t drink but I could tell the bartender was good ’cause he was busy and engaging with his customers. the staff are very curtious and the meat just kept coming, Rib eye, pork sausage, spare ribs, garlic steak, flank steak, cabobs, etc. All were cooked to near perfection. My favorite had to be the rib eye and the flank steak, they were outstanding. The servers are very attentive and never let more than five or six minutes go by without checking in. there is plenty of parking (it sits in a huge mall) and it’s right off of the freeway. As McCarthur said, “I shall return”.
Have been here MANY times as a local. Food is awesome! Service is great! Ambiance? not so much… But who cares? It’s a great little place to have mexican food and a beer. They have traditonal dishes, but have added some healthier fare to the menu. The shrimp cocktail is chock full of plump shrimp and fresh avocado chopped right out of the avo into your bowl. The grilled Halibut is wonderful also. But if you are not watching your waistline, go for the tradtional authentic mexi dishes, you will not be dissapointed.
