Where are the Best Cheap Eats in New York, New York?

I thought it was Grif Dog, with a G. Anyway, I’m a vegetarian so haven’t been able to try these hot dogs, but driving by late one night, I stopped in to grab some cheese fries (delicious and messy, just the way I like em). Good prices. It seems to be a local hang out spot, real gritty nyc, so anyone expecting a nice classy place, look elsewhere. But for native new yorkers its a true gem.Pros + cool local hang out, good friesCons – small, can get loud and crowded

I love burgers. I’ve eaten burgers at every self-professed “best burgers” joint. I can honestly say that without a doubt, Paul’s burger was the best I’ve ever had. The only other place that comes close is Lou’s Lunch in New Haven. I got an English burger – just a plain old burger with cheese on an English muffin. It didn’t need a thing. The taste of the meat was amazing. I’m surprised they didn’t have a cow carcass in the back room (or maybe they did – hey it’s the East Village!) because the meat tasted so fresh. And yes, the burgers are going to be bigger than the bun (plain old Wonder bread buns) but who wouldn’t want a bigger burger??? I would totally recommend the English muffin because it’s kinda crispy and doesn’t get soggy with all that greasy meaty burger juice. We didn’t get any fries or anything because we wanted to stuff ourselves with that damn tasty burger… but we did get a vanilla egg cream to drink that was pretty awesome. The decor is something you’d expect from the a

In 2004, I visited New York for the first time. My friend lives in Greenwich Village near Woogies. The first week she showed me around NY, she introduced me to a few fine restaurants which were really nice. On the last day we stumbled across Woogies for lunch. I absolutely fell in love with their cheese steak (cheese whiz) chicken sandwiches. The following year I visited NY three times. Each visit I stopped at Woogies a few times for their sandwich and wedged fries. Occasionally, my boyfriend and I will try and duplicate the sandwich at home, but it doesn’t come out nearly as tasty and Woogies Sandwiches. Let me know when you branch out to Los Angeles. Pros + Excellent Food; Great View; and Friendly People!Cons – Traveling from California to New York to visit Woogies

i came here with four other friends on sunday night. it was super crowded and we ended up having to wait over an hour for a table.the inside of the place is really loud due to a combination of inebriated people guzzling cheap beer, large groups, and a very large japanese imperialist music soundtrack that plays above everything. the walls are adorned with the names of foods they offer (and prices in yen) as well as kitschy posters from 1950s japan.the food and drinks at kenka are extremely cheap, and no one felt guilty for ordering more food than was necessary. we split the edamame ($1), gyoza ($5), okonomiyaki ($5), and potato croquettes ($3). we also each ordered an entree. the food arrived very quickly. the gyoza were ok thin-skinned, very small, but panfried together so that they were hard to separate. the okonomiyaki (squid & cabbage pancake) was on the thin side and toughened from over-frying. the potato croquettes were really good crispy and filled with smooth mashe

I go to lunch here a number of times. When I first went, there was a REALLY long line that went out the door, and by the looks of that, it was discouraging to even want to try it. However, I heard great things about it; so, I gave it a shot. I was surprised how fast the line went! They make them really fast, and the wait doesn’t feel long at all. The food is GREAT, and I love how you can pick and choose what you want in your burrito/fajita/bol/tacos. My favorite is their chicken fajita, and I’m addicted to their salsas! Not to mention, their burritos/fajitas are HUGE!! It’s such a great value!Pros + Food, Service, PricesCons – None
