Where are the Best Cheap Eats in Chicago, Illinois?
For the out of towners who may not know much about Chicago, the famous Billy Goat Tavern underneath the viaducts on Michigan Ave by Navy Pier is a classic restaurant sketch come to life from the old Saturday Night Live days, just like the other classic sketch of Hub’s Fast Food Restaurant with “the juice”. For Chicagoians, the Billy Goat is more than a hidden gem in Chicago. It’s history dating back to the 1945 Chicago Cubs and the Curse of the Billy Goat. For me, my first go around with the Billy Goat Tavern came on New Year’s Eve 05 when my cousin and former friend decided to head to Navy Pier to see the fireworks. On the way to the Pier, low and behold the Billy Goat was right on the path. Now I knew about the Curse and the SNL sketch, but never did I imagine the history that was inside surrounding the walls and the ambience. The famous “cheeseborger cheeseborger cheeseborger” line reigns true here, despite having other items on the menu too. But putting history aside, the “ch
You won’t find Italian food of this quality for a better price anywhere, guaranteed. Service is friendly and efficient, ambience is casual and simple. My personal favorite dish is the Farfalle Pollo. Other good bets are the Linguine Pesto, Rigatoni Bolognese and Conchiglie Gorgonzola. The gnocchi, tortellini, and ravioli are made fresh on premises and come with your choice of sauce. Entrees are mostly $5-$6 but keep in mind that if you want salad, etc. it’s a la carte. Still, the value is incredible! Great place for a quick bite. This place is truly one of Chicago’s best-kept secrets.

In this quiet unassuming storefront on Clark St in Lincoln Park you will find the best value for your dollar in all of the land to be certain. The portions quality and flavor are unsurpassed by anything in the area.Aloha Grill serves traditional Hawaiian plate lunch. What that means is grilled meat of some sort accompanied by scoops of white rice and creamy macaroni salad. Theyre very generous with portions and its authentic in recipe and preparation so says my wife who would regularly eat real Hawaiian food back in San Diego.For under 10 per person youll have guaranteed leftovers. If you want authentic Asian food this is not the place. (I doubt any place that considers them pan-asian can truly be authentic.)I’ve eaten here several times before. The first few times I thought the food was really good. But I think the more I come here the less I like it. STILL, I would recommend trying their all-you-can-everything-on-the-menu but be sure to go there with no less than three people and no more than six people, otherwise it’s not worth what you pay for. It’s just fun to be able to try everything on the menu. Whenever you go to a restaurant you always wished you could try everything on the menu so here’s your chance at Lulu’s. I like their Chicken Ramen noodles and mussels. Stay away from their Pad Thai or Bibim bop– really inauthentic. Pros + You can try everything on the menu!
