Where are the Best Cheap Eats in Chicago, Illinois?
I stumbled upon Pompei as I was trying to find my car after visiting a friend at UIC. As soon as I set foot in the door, I was surprised by the charming architecture not typically found in inexpensive restaurants. I stood at the menu display for about 5 minutes before I could finally make up my mind – everything looked delicious! And I was more than pleased with my finally choice – a turkey veggie sandwich, unlike any I had ever tasted. I definately recommend Pompei if you happen to be in the area!Pros + huge portions, inexpensive
We got takeout from Penny’s based on the advice of some friends. The pad thai was ok but it didn’t have really rich flavors, nor did it actually taste like Pad Thai. My wife had the wonton soup which was good but also lack rich flavors. Compared to Chen’s, which is just down the street (and more expensive), Penny’s was unimpressive. However, given the price it was pretty good.
