I had not been to Towne since I moved away from Buffalo in the 80’s but on coming back, we dined at Towne to find that the food and service was just as good now as it was then. I have compared every Gyro I have eaten since to those that I had at Towne while I was in college. The wait staff still serves the best Gyros in Buffalo. The combination plate is not only a great way to taste some of the most popular menu items, but is also very filling, a challenge to complete. The lemon rice soup is a wonderful compliment to flavors of lamb and greek potatoes. I found the staff to not only be fast and efficient, but friendly and sociable as well. As good as I remember!Pros + Parking is easy, Breakfast anytime

Many will compare Duff’s to the much heralded Anchor Bar when talking wings in Buffalo. Though Duff’s doesn’t feature all the flash that AB does, it’s a great local spot that has good food (and better wings than at AB in my opinion) at reasonable prices. Wings here are meaty and dripping with sauce. The “medium” sauce here may be equivalent to what is called “hot” elsewhere. The blue cheese is tangy and tasty, and is the perfect compiment to the hot and spicy wings.Service is attentive and friendly. Pretty much what you’d expect from a casual dining spot in this area. The Amherst location on Sheridan Dr is close to both UB campuses, so expect a lot of students and other locals. The noise level can be high, and the atmosphere is decidedly drab, but it all works to make for a great local hotspot.Pros + Lots of locals, great wings, relaxed settingCons – Noisy, not much atmosphere

Jim’s is hands down the best steak sub ever. I usually order “The Load”. They recently added more locations, which is so great. I used to haul the hubby and 2 kids downtown to get a Jim’s fix. Now we can visit the Sheridan location. Jim’s is a Buffalo tradition, and quite well deserving of the title!Pros + FOOD QUALITY, PORTION SIZECons – CAN’T THINK OF ANY!
