Where are the Best Cheap Eats in Atlanta, Georgia?
This is hands down some of the best fast diner food I have ever had! Where else do you get a foot long chilidog with slaw and onions where the bun is grilled! The side items keep me coming back. How could you not when they have homemade onion rings, TATER TOTS, and crinkle fries? Zesto being locally owned has more selection than the generic chain fast food such as turkey burgers, tuna steak sandwich, homemade chicken salad, wings, and great salads. You must save room for the crown jewel of Zesto old-fashioned soft serve ice cream. Whether you like Brown Cow cones, milkshakes or the tried and true banana split you will leave happy and full without empting your wallet. Willy’s isn’t exactly a fancy restaurant, but it definitely serves a purpose. If you want good quality food (and lots of it) fast and cheap, Willy’s is your place. The ingredients are always fresh and your burrito is made to order right away. If there’s not a huge line (as there often is at the Piedmont Park location), you can be in and out in about 1/2 hour.I’ve tried both Willy’s and Moe’s. They essentially have the same menu. We stood in line for 20 minutes to order food in Decatur. The line was out the door so we figured we arrived at a good place. The menu was very limited but different. I order a brisket taco and a chiken taco. The brisket was very good. The chicken was dried out and stringy. I flagged down a food deliverer and asked if they could replace the taco with a fresh one and it was like I took a knofe and stabbed someone.They brought a new taco, dropped it on the table and left. It was just as bad. Still hungry I wanted another brisket taco but the line was even longer and futher out the door. I asked the server if I could get a taco without waiting another 20 minutes and the answer was “no, I can;t get you one, you need to stand in line with the other guests”. We left and will never go back!
A longtime fan of Gino’s East in Chicago, it took me two years in Atlanta to find anything close. Nancy’s isn’t quite there but is by far the best pizza I’ve had in Atlanta. If you get delivery for the deep dish. we always throw it in the oven when it arrives for another 10 minutes, as the crust is usually a little softer than how it’s done at Gino’s or Uno. We have it several times a month, and there’s usually coupons for free breadsticks on their website. This is a great place for college kids who want to get a couple of cheap tacos, eat quickly, and leave the restaurant. With all the tasty and affordable Mexican food in Atlanta, I’d rather sit at a table and enjoy my food comfortably versus waiting in a long line with no guarantee of a table…just for a couple of $2 tacos. It might be best in the dead of winter when the lines are shorter, but I will go elsewhere for a cheap Mexican fix. Pros + CheapCons – Long lines, Rushed atmosphere
