Where are the Best Cheap Eats in Albuquerque, New Mexico?
Ok, ordinarily that would be considered a negative thing, but not at this Dion’s or any other in Albuquerque. First of all, the food is great, and the ingredients the best. Go for the “Special” pizza “with everything!” That includes green chiles of course…a must! Add a nice salad, and you will be satisfied in all respects. Remember, this is a nice “pizza place.” If you are looking for romantic, Italian dining…look elsewhere on Citysearch. ;-)Pros + quality ingredients, friendly staff, ample parkingCons – a little noisy
This isn’t the place to go for a gourmet meal, unless you’re talking desserts. It’s the place to meet friends, have good, hearty food, and enjoy the wait staff. Regulars are cherished, and get more love from the staff when Harry’s is their Cheers Bar, but I’ve almost always found the service to be pleasant, and often friendly, and almost always competent. I’ve eaten at Harry’s off and on for 7 years. You can sit at the counter, like a diner, in the bar (which is a full bar: beer, wine, hard stuff) on stools or at the bar, or in one of the three dining rooms or even outdoors when the weather is nice. Some folks may have had a single bad experience at Harry’s and written a scathing review here in revenge. Pfooey: every waiter, every restaurant, will fumble now and then. The line is long during tourist season, but the rest of the year, when there’s a line, it’s often a good time to meet and chat with strangers. I lived in Albuquerque for 28 yrs, and whenever I go back, the first stop is Los Cuates. It’s got all the makings of a good New Mexican kitchen, cheap plastic tablecloths, brightly painted walls, a basket of sopas with a honey container ready to deploy on each table.The Carne Adobada is to die for, but you can’t go too far wrong. Service is good, there’s lots of noisy kids, and a great deal of hustle and bustle, but if you’re looking for the real stuff, Los Cuates is where its at.The only other competition in Albuquerque is M&J’s downtown, and perhaps Sadies on N.
