Where are the Best Cheap Eats in Albany, New York?
Back in “the day” when this restaurant was just “The Rainbow Restaurant” it was a late 40’s/50’s era Italian family run “bizziness!”In the late nineties it became “Over the Raibow.” Still a good place to eat, old school and great service.Since it’s acquistion a few years back by a retired detective/entrepenauer, it has gone way South! The regular ‘regulars’ are gone & the place suffers from lack of knowledgeable kitchen help and waitstaff.Parking is poor and the location, right accross the street from a Common where crimes are very “common”makes this a “go somewhere else” type of place.Rated ‘Good For Kids’ because kids will eat ANYTHING with sauce and cheese!Pros + Very WarmCons – Parking/Service
I went here for lunch with a friend b/c we had heard good things. They were true! The sandwiches were tasty and the soup offerings were intriguing. My friend and I both had the half sandwich / small cup of soup combo. The soups were quite good as well. The sitting area is small and cramped, but we were able to find a place without much trouble. The blonde woman working (who I am pretty sure is Debbie) was very friendly and lively. Overall, a great lunch option in the Madison/Lark area.Pros + Good food, clever combinationsCons – Parking, small sitting area
We go there constantly. I love their huge burritos, especially the bbq pork And while they are best known for burritos, their flavored wings are very reasonable and taste wonderful. I like the garlic ones the best. And there is no better place to go on your birthday, where they give you an enormous Margaritta that is big enough for for people for free. The best place to sit is upstairs by the window overlooking Lark Street. If you don’t want waitress service then downstairs may do, but it is kind of dark an dingy thereThe service is pleasant and efficient and I think anyone visiting Albany should go there at least once.Pros + great food, great atmsophereCons – NONE
