This 5,400-square-foot bed-and-breakfast, set on extensive grounds edged with laurel bushes, hawthorne trees, and azaleas, resembles a Tudor manor. Antiques crowd the house, the guest rooms, and the dining room, where breakfast is served. www.tudor-house.com. 3 double rooms, 1 suite. Cable TV; no smoking. AE…

After reading the prior review (Carmen, July 2004), I had to respond. (Frankly, if you can’t even spell coffee or somewhere correctly,I’m not likely to give credence to your review.) I travel to Portland at least four times a year and this B&B is a MUST on my “Where To Stay” List. ALL of the rooms are described in detail on their website. Thus, to not know that the bathroom is a few short steps from the door to your room (if you book the Lavonna)is your problem and not that of the innkeepers. The lighting in that room is brightened by the many windows and softened by the subtle lighting provided. I’ve wandered downstairs in the early hours (6AM to 7:30AM) and ALWAYS found fresh coffee awaiting me. Both of the innkeepers pointed out (on different occasions) the delightful selection of evening snacks (cookies, brownies, nuts)clearly in view in the dining room. This establishment, while formal in appearance, is warm and friendly. The conversation around the dining room table in the mornin

I can’t say enough what a fabulous experience Heron Haus was. The enormous bathroom (complete with spa, fireplace and cozy bath robes) and super-comfortable bed almost kept us in our room the entire weekend! Wireless internet access and a basket of goodies were also included. When we did venture out, we discovered Heron Haus’ lovely gardens and hilltop views. This house is obviously well-loved by the Innkeeper, who was friendly and personable without being pushy or demanding too much of our attention. The common areas were warm and comfortable, without being overdone or pretentious. Breakfast was also excellent, complete with sticky buns and fresh fruit.Just down the street, we were spoiled for choice with so many restaurants and shops. There’s even a trolly that runs right to the city center.Pros + beautiful, friendly, great location

My husband and I were recently married at Portland’s White House. We were looking for just the right place for a small wedding with just our family and friends. The Portland’s White House was everything we could want in wedding site and more. A beautiful white mansion impressively landscaped outside, and exquisitely decorated inside with luscious fabrics, antiques, and oil paintings. Each room has its own character and is rich in detail; the beds are so wonderful, easily the best sleep in my life. We stayed two nights, had the rehearsal dinner and the wedding ceremony and reception in the courtyard – the roses and the flower baskets were in full bloom. The food! – They have on-site catering offering a menu with fun, delicious varieties. We had family style breakfasts with the best waffles in the lovely dining room. The host of the Portland’s White House, Lanning, is friendly, energetic and makes you feel so at home and his staff is amazing, just excellent service all around. Wonderful

We enjoyed our spacious room at the MacMaster very much, and the breakfasts were outstanding. It’s in a wonderful location Portland, walking distance from so many interesting places, not least of all the Washington Park with its famous Rose Gardens. The fresh flowers and warm charming hosts all contributed to our stay at the MacMaster. I would definitely recommend it.
