Where are the Best Bartenders in Portland, Oregon?
I love this place. I like to take out of town visitors here to show them a perfect example of a great portland restaurant. The servers are always friendly and inviting without coming across as fake. I can say that I’ve tried most the dishes and could recommend pretty much everything so far. i do have to wonder about the review bagging on the beet salad. its one of my favorites. if you need more beets, just ask. not every person on every kitchen staff in town knows how many beets will keep your obnoxious yuppie whining at bay.Pros + excellent & friendly staff, creative dishes, consistent bar.Cons – sometimes there are completely obnoxious customers.
I really thought the food was great. It seems very inventive and freshly original. Even items that I don’t particularly like (like beets) were good in the preparation. No complaints there. I ate all of my hen (?) and wanted another one! The rest of my party really enjoyed their burgers. They say they are the best burgers in town. Now, as far as the service, that’s another thing. I’m not saying that the service is bad. What I’m saying is that there was no warmth. I don’t think she ever smiled at us or really looked as us. It was just kinda blah, like robotic. If the table gets cleared and nothing goes wrong, then I guess it’s okay. I just feel like the experience would have been much more top notch had the server acted like she wanted to be there. I do have to mention though, there was a guy bartender who I asked for a taste of something. He was really friendly and excited about telling me about the product. Went here on a Thursday night for happy hour. Was busy but still was able to get a seat for 2 people. Loved all the choices of drinks (their website is really well done, too, and I even picked my drinks ahead of time). We were starving too, so ordered some spreads and cheese. The drinks were good, and the food was absolutely wonderful. The Vault is high on my list for ambiance & eats, and somewhere in the middle for the drinks (that I tried that night).
