Where are the Best Bartenders in New York, New York?
Although the space is great and very convenient, the hideous door staff are a real turn off – to the extent that I have stopped coming here and have steered my friends away. I have seen these gum chewing trogoldytes give perfectly acceptable trying-hard tourists the rudest up-and-down. Even if the place is misguidedly trying to create some kind of club vibe (ridiculous given the location and demographic), no responsible and/or decent owner would allow doorpeople to behave like that. I even saw a too-cool-for-midtown woman with a broken foot get turned away because she was wearing… ONE SNEAKER on her broken foot. Can the owner of this beautiful bar please deal with the door issue!Pros + Lovely spaceCons – Trashy staff
I stayed at the W this summer for a ‘girls’ night out.’ Boy was this a stay… The good stuff first: it’s a gorgeous place, the decor is unbelievable, and you’re right in the middle of everything. The bed is also insanely comfortable. The praise ends here. The famous W customer service was very spotty for us – some staff…
The bar is a reflection of a unique mind and personality. I think in his last life Jimmy was Gomez Adams. He travels in a hearse; there are Goth type objects, 60’s pinups, and Dancing Dominic all over his place. (Dancing Dominic is the Mascot-Icon of the bar and made the trip /in memory only/ from 9th Ave. Let me Explain the Jukebox. I can’t.It has Indy, Peggy Lee, Metal, Rock, Johnny Cash, Country-Punk, Neil Diamond, Ramones, and Sinatra. But I don’t think Elvis. I have to check on that. There are 2 VCR’s that show rock concerts and cult movies (and some movies I have never seen before) on 4 monitors around the bar.The bargirls $pit fire; for real; 151 Rum and a Zippo and they are all set. There is a great deck / patio that holds probably 40 people; so you can smoke, drink, and raise a lot of hell; there are no neighbors, because it is $mack in the middle of a warehouse district. And I saw a grill, so I’d guess they cook outside in the good weather. You are goings
This place is really cool! I’m psyched there’s finally a tasteful bar right in this neighborhood because I only live 2 blocks away. I came here once during the week with my boyfriend and it was pretty empty but a mellow quiet place for us to relax and just chill-out together. I went here this past Saturday and it was a whole different story. It was packed! The DJ was really good and the crowd was dancing all night. People were yelling and screaming and it was actually a pretty wild party. I was shocked at how different this place must be on the weekends! Drinks are really expensive though. Cocktails were Manhattan prices and my boyfriend was p.o.’d about spending $6 on a beer. Next time we’ll pre-game at home : P Overall it’s a nice new addition to the neighborhood.Pros + friendly service, good music, fun crowdCons – expensive
Its very nice in here in terms of decor, but the crowded ambiance needs to be addressed as its hardly a lounge as it is a big group of body heat. The bartenders are generous with their drinks and they seem to be reasonably priced.Pros + Decor, Drinks, No Cover, Good MusicCons – Super Crowded (!!), No Table Reservations
