The Beehive is a great place to hear music, that isn’t a crappy indie rock bar. The schedule is always changing, and you really don’t know who is going to be playing there from one night to the next. Unfortunately, the food can be as unpredictable as the music. I have had great meals there, and I have had mediocre, but I don’t necessarily go there for the food first. I go with friends, for drinks, dancing, etc. The food is secondary. I’ve always loved the atmosphere of this place, and that’s what keeps me coming back.Pros + The music is always worth checking outCons – Not really a place to sit and talk

I’m a fan of the bigger Cask, allows for you to always get a seat somewhere without waiting long(when I’ve been there) and not have to wait too long for a drink. I haven’t been there at super busy times, so I cant comment on that. Also not sure about the dancing in the back, I dont think I’d go to Cask for a dance scene…but definitely a nice spacious place to grab some drinks or watch a game. The food is definitely good too.

Two friends and I found ourselves just outside of Harvard Square on saturday afternoon and hungy for some light snacks and a good cocktail. We stepped into Temple Bar and had a lovely time in their bar that is open to the street. The pizza, fries and salad were just right, although the pizza had a slightly soggy, limp crust. Our cocktails were good too – their drink list leans toward the sweet side of things, but classic drinks (side-car, old-fashioned) were just right. Our waitress seemed half-asleep and bored, but overall we had a very enjoyable time there.Pros + Great space.Cons – A little pricey.

I’ve been going to Tommy D’s for almost two years now and its one of my favorite bars in the Square. Dress up or dress down, you can always feel at home there. I love that there is something at TD’s for whatever mood I’m in–I can go when I want to dance and drink and go to the top floor, or if I want a beer and some apps and good conversation with friends, there’s space on the main floor or the basement lounge where i can actually hear the people at the table I’m at. The bartenders on the top floor get special props for creative mixing (I never know what I want, and they will always make something special) and always being friendly, especially when the bar is a few people deep. I celebrated my birthday here as well and with great space and good prices, it was the best place to bring a large group of friends. There are lots of great bars in the Square but Tommy Doyle’s is the best of all worlds, balancing club and pub, food and drink, and being a place meeting new people or banki

I’ve been to Vox a few times and have only good things to say about my experiences there. The first few times I went were for parties – Vox is apparently very easy to schedule events with, because our class used to have events there each semester. They have two bars – upstairs and downstairs, and a great décor, though I guess you could argue it’s a little confusing to get to the bathrooms. It can also get cramped fast.In addition to our private parties I also attended Vox’s awesome Halloween party in 2009, which was a great time! One of the more affordable, fun Halloween parties going on that weekend. I’ve found the drinks to be good, the staff to be very professional, and the atmosphere to be a lot of fun. The bar touts their dozens of martinis, but they have a ton of drink options and I’ve ordered a few different drinks and never been disappointed. But this past week I went for the first time to actually eat something – their restaurant is running a promotion in February
