On a recent trip to the Fleet Center, we stumbled upon Porters, a small eating/drinking establishment in the heart of the west end. We were pleasantly surprised by the “Grill” part of “Bar & Grill” – the menu offered all the basics (best burger in Boston!) plus some trademark dishes (red bliss potatoes with bleu cheese a must try) as well as a few nightly specials. They also pour a good variety of draft beers from CLEAN tap lines, making for a good pre-event watering hole. Prices were better than average, especially in light of the food quality and portion size. While there is better than adequate sports viewing (large projection screen), it doesn’t dominate the atmosphere like some sports bars. The staff was very friendly, tho getting the check took extra time as it was super busy before game time (leave some extra time if possible). We returned later that night to find live entertainment, an unexpected post-game bonus.

Let me start by saying the food is amazing. There are a few things that i think they should do to make this a true 5 star experience. First off I think they should take reservation especially on the weekends. I went there on a Saturday night and it was packed. Secondly, we waited two hours for apps and salad and then before we knew it our meals were out immediately following. But the taste was well worth the wait. My party enjoyed a few of their delicious martini’s while we waited. The girls were better with the especially long wait for the food than the guys were, pigs. Lastly, I returned there again an other night and waited an hour for martini’s and we were told that there was only one martiniologist one duty on a friday night, it would help to have two on, this was downstairs. Even though these might be annoying for some people, if you go with a group of people that you enjoy spending time with you can get a greal meal (that tastes great the next day too) and excellent drin

Went to Lucky’s Lounge for the first time Monday night with one of my girlfriends. I live in Southie and they’re definitely getting a new regular in me. I had the steak tips and they were absolutely delicious, by far the best I’ve had in a while. The waitress was charming and took quite good care of us and that was even before she knew the it was our first time. When she did find out she explained about how they have live music on some nights. I’m already making plans to come in for Sinatra Sunday soon! It’s a great place to come in a just relax. My only cons are no live music on Mondays and I couldn’t find it at first (no sign) but later in the evening I realized that no sign is part of Lucky’s charm.Pros + No SignCons – No Sign, No live music on Mondays

I booked my husband’s 30th birthday at Game On and our party was in the lower-level bar. He’s a big baseball fan and we were able to watch the Red Sox game on a whole bunch of tv’s and had ample seating and tables for all our guests. Best of all, we had access to the visitor’s batting cage at Fenway Park and it just made for a fun and unique experience for everyone! The waitstaff went out of their way to offer me assistance throughout the night and were friendly and accommodating without being pushy. In addition, the management made it very easy to book the party and kept consistent communication with me throughout the whole planning process.Though the food was typical bar food that was not special or amazing in any specific way, there was plenty of it and the service was great. Plus, the bar downstairs was huge and the chef and waitstaff were great in helping me with the birthday cake, taking pictures for me, and allowing me to set up the room hours before the party. In short,

My friends and I ventured over to HG after the Liberty Hotel line did not move at all. Conveniently located right by the MGH t-stop in Beacon Hill, HG offers a mix of casual and classy under one roof. The selection of males and females is an equal balance, and Saturday nights tend to bring out an evolving crowd of people either there to pregame, or there to stay, with new people constantly in line to get in. I have not tried any food ? stuck only to wine ? but my friends had mixed drinks and all the prices were on par for Boston. As a single female looking to mingle, I found a variety of men interesting enough to let engage me. I prefer when bars are most crowded to sit at the bar ? that way you can scope out the scene better ? and meet people who need to get drinks by helping them get the attention of the bartenders. Not a date spot because it can be too loud and busy to really get to know the person you went with. I recommend HG as a place to go with a group of people that mi
