Where Are Some Homeschool Groups in my Area?
Search online. Yahoo! Groups is one place to search. Or Facebook. Or other places that have groups on them. If you can’t find one for your area, find one for a nearby area, or your province, or your country, and then ask if anyone there can point you to a more local group–many homeschoolers belong to several groups or know of others and can help you. You might also try on large homeschooling websites such as Home Education Magazine’s website or others that maintain lists of homeschool support groups. Ask around. Many groups are associated with religious groups, so you could try calling some of them locally. Even if you aren’t religious, try it; often the people in one homeschool group will know of others and can connect you with one that’s a better fit for you. Ask at a library. Many homeschoolers spend a lot of time in the library, so librarians can often help connect you with them. Ask your school officials.
