Where Are Pygmy Shrews Found?
Pygmy shrews can be found in a number of places and has varying habitats. It can be found in one’s garden under leaf clutter and undergrowth. They prefer moist locations to dryer environments. It can be found in the grassy openings of certain boreal forests. They are said to have been found in spruce-fir forests as well as cedar-hemlock forests. They can also be found along the riparian habitats that surround the boggy ponds. It is believed that they are found in most parts of Alaska and Canada, with the exception of the tundra region. Some species of the pygmy shrews have also been spotted along the Rockies, the Appalachians and near the Great lakes. They are said to be the smallest mammals that are found on the surface of the Earth.
