“Once a weapon has been purchased with a valid permit from the City of Troy Records Section, two(2) portions of the permit, ( a new four part form printed on yellow cardstock) must be returned to the Records Section in person or by mail. As of January, 2009, Michigan State law does not require the firearm to be inspected. Do not bring the firearm to the Police Records Section for inspection. Registration cards are no longer issued to owners. If your firearm was registered prior to January 2009, and the registration card has been lost, contact the Records Section for proof of ownership.
