Assuming the computers at your machines are connected to a network, all of your drill and route programs are stored on other computers which act as “network file servers”. Today, by the use of the DSL telephone connections and the World Wide Web your Drill Room File Server and CAM department could be literally anywhere. Your production facility could be in Mexico and your network file server in San Jose, California or vice versa. Expensive, dedicated, leased lines are no long necessary. So, the answer to your question is – your drill and route programs can be stored across the room or across the country. It really doesnt matter any more.
