Where Are Marble Chess Sets Made?
The majority of the marble chess sets that you will find in online chess stores are made in two different areas of the world. The first major producer of marble and onyx sets is Pakistan. The sets are made in the region in and around Karachi; this region is known for having a well-established onyx and marble industry. The second major producer of marble sets is the region of Puebla, Mexico. Almost all of the chess sets produced in this region are made with onyx and marble. Both styles of are unique in their own way, yet they still share certain characteristics. What is the difference between the chess sets produced in these regions?
