Where are lotus plants found in egypt?
the Lotus grows in water, and is Egypt is only found along the Nile, particularly Upper Egypt. It is much rarer than in the past, as the still water and marsh areas it grows in have been drained for cultivation or flooded. In Pharaonic times it was the heraldic plant of Upper Egypt. Date Palm grows the length of the Nile valley and delta, and also in the oasis. It’s cultivated for date fruit, and can survive on little water so is also cultivated in the oasis regions. They require little attention and effectively grow wild anywhere there is sufficient water. The fig (and the related banyan) grow in Egypt, the latter in an ornamental role. The former likes dry Mediterranean conditions and sandier soil, meaning it traditionally was grown further from the river, so it wouldn’t be flooded. These days that’s not an issue, though mono-culture agricultural practises have reduced it’s visibility greatly. It is now a sadly rare sight. I’m afraid I don’t know much about the mulberry, sorry!
