Where are good places to fish around Rockport? When are the best times?
October is an excellent time to fish this area. The temperatures both air and water have cooled down. Excellent areas to fish are the Redfish Bay area and the St. Joseph shoreline across Aransas Bay. With a 24-ft boat you will be restricted to the deeper areas along the flats where the shallow water drops off to deeper water. Fishing with bait or lures should be productive this time of the year. Check with the local Chambers of Commerce. They have literature on when and where to fish in Aransas Bay. Another good area would be the Port Aransas jetties. This area can be very good for red drum, trout, and flounder in October. One thing to watch for is cold fronts. The best fishing is usually right before the front hits and the calm weather after the front goes through the area. This is usually one or two days after front passage.
