Where are Birds Ears?
depending on what species, their ears are on the sides of their head near the bottom outer edge of their eye. They are a hole, and contrary to popular belief, again depending on species, the hole can be quite large – often about the same size of their eye. Birds ears are also assymmertrical. This means they are not placed evenly on their head. this means sounds from a single source reach the ears at slightly different times and this can help them judge distance and direction. If you have a bird that doesnt mind beig touched, you can part the feathers on their head and have a look – but do this very quietly and gently, and push the feathers back when you are finished so that nothing can find its way in there. .
