Where are all of the political science graduates in real world politics?
Politics today is so media driven that having the proper training is less important than having the right media appeal. Though many political science majors do go on to law degrees as stepping stones to the world of real politics, many of them end up working in government or often corporate environments. So real politicians often end up coming from completely different backgrounds. But behind the scenes, the professionals are doing a lot of the work. The elected official is the face of the office, but behind him is a team of well educated professionals who probably majored in poltical science in college. So you may not see that many political science majors holding public office, but they are often the ones pulling the strings behind the scenes.
