Where and when was the dyslexia@bay System founded?
The system has been devised by Martin Murphy, who taught in Dublin, Ireland for 23 years and who has been working with students, who have dyslexia, for a considerable period of time. Teaching students with dyslexia using traditional methods yielded limited results considering the students’ obvious levels of intelligence. By appreciating that discrete locations in the brain are used in concert for different learning methods, he designed a screening method to identify the learning profiles for different students including those students with dyslexia. By identifying the similarities and the differences in learning profiles, and hence the locations in the brain being used, the dyslexia@bay System evolved. The system is being continuously improved using the feedback of other teachers, parents and students.
