Where and when did Democritus discover the atomic theory?
Democritus was an ancient greek philosopher who proposed that matter came in little indivisibe chunks. This was to oppose other philosophers who thought matter could be divided infinitely. Democritus had no evidence of atoms but was just speculating philosophically. Actual scientific atomic theory was proposed by John Dalton in the late 1700’s early 1800’s.
