Where and how can I grow strawberries?

Strawberries are pretty hardy and can grow pretty easily if you have nice loose soil that is not rocky. When I was growing up we filled a 55 barrel drum with dirt and knocked about 25 holes in it to plant the strawberries, We got some berries the first year, by the third year you could hardly see any of the barrel. They grow good in full sun but they do like some water too. If you live in an area that is humid it helps, or rainy during the spring. They do spread, not very fast, but you will have to cut them back once a year after they spread out over whatever it is you want covered by them. There are several places to get them, try your local feed store, there are also places on line to buy them as well. It is best if you plant them in the early spring, just after you know the last frost will hit.
