Where a cheap place in Mexico that is fun to visit?
– deep in the mountains of southern Mexico – Great exposure to Mayan culture – Cheap food & hotels – You have day-trip access to Mayan ruins It’s a little expensive to get there…I think the best way is to fly to Mexico City, then take a flight to Tuxtla Gutierrez, then you have to rent a car (or take the bus) up the mountains to San Cristobal de las Casas. Note — i would have recommended Oaxaca instead but right now there are a lot of political demonstrations in Oaxaca that apparently have tied up most of the tourist infrastructure. Once the demonstrations are over, I would definitely recommend Oaxaca.
