Whens the best time to go rafting with Rapid Expeditions?
Rapid Expeditions runs rafting trips down the river year round, and especially from May – October when the weather is warmer. Trips can be scheduled every day of the week. However, because the Pigeon River is dam-controlled, there are certain days that will guarantee the highest water levels. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays are scheduled water release days, and we strongly recommend that you book your trip on one of these days. On those days, we schedule 11 a.m, 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. trips. Additional trips may be scheduled as needed. Mondays, Fridays and Sundays are variable. At some point the water will be released down the river, but there is no guarantee on when. That decision is made by Carolina Power & Light, the entity that controls the waterway.
