When writing answers, are students permitted to copy text?

0

For short-response questions, students may cite text from the passage in order to answer the questions if the text cited is appropriate and applicable. Students may also include cited text from the passage when supporting ideas presented in extended responses. However, if the students answer to an extended-response question consists primarily of a retelling of the story or article by means of copying whole sections of the passage, then only the original work provided by the student may be scored. This applies to both the Reading/Writing and the Writing Mechanics clusters.
