When would the project’s agricultural conservation measures such as use of high-yielding rice varieties and laser leveling of fields begin?
A project implementation plan will be finalized between 2010 and 2015 and will lay out the timeline for laser leveling and other conservation measures. In the meantime, LCRA already is working with farmers to implement conservation measures on a limited basis for HB 1437. The new high-yielding rice variety could have a release as early as 2011-2012.
