When would I use a stem and leaf or box and whisker plot?
Both of these plots are used to show the distribution of data. The box and whisker plot shows the range of the data (the whiskers), and where the middle 50% of the data (the box) lie on a number line. It doesn’t give detailed information. The stem and leaf plot is a simple histogram, which gives you a little more info as to how the data is distributed.
