When working with multiple files in different directories I spend a lot of time going up and down the file-system tree. Is there a way to more frequently start in the “right” folder?

There are at least two ways. One way is to define sites for directories that you use a lot. This works surprisingly well. Another thing you can try is this: If you already have some file from your “right” folder open, you can right-click it in the tab-bar and select “Open Folder” from the popup-menu.
