When withdrawing funds from my account by cheque, who should I make the cheque payable to?

0

To help safeguard against fraud. When you write a cheque, you should not make it payable to just a bank or building society – even if it is for your own account. Instead, you should include further details about the account or person to whom the money is being paid, in the payee line (for example you could make the cheque payable to Mr J Smith, Mr J Smith re Account No xxxx or Norwich and Peterborough Building Society re J Smith, Account No xxxx). You should also draw a line through the unused space on the cheque so unauthorised people cannot add extra information or numbers. If you wish to deposit a cheque in a branch or by post please make payable to “Norwich and Peterborough Building Society” the cheque will be returned to you.
