When will YE Yang face off with Tiger Woods?
Y.E. Yang, the man who ran down Tiger Woods in the final round to win the PGA Championship, will take on the world No.1 again Sunday in a Presidents Cup singles match. “I’m going to stick to my game plan, just like I did then,” said Yang, the unheralded South Korean who became Asia’s first major champion winner. “I’ll have a few tricks up my sleeve perhaps.” Yang’s PGA triumph snapped Woods’s 14-for-14 streak in winning majors when leading after 54 holes and made 2009 the first year since 2004 that Woods didn’t win a major. US captain Fred Couples said Woods hadn’t asked for the pairing. But it was Couples who had the final say in arranging it – putting up Woods’s name after Internationals captain Greg Norman had put up Yang’s as the two made the pairings for Sunday’s 12 singles matches.
