When Will the Washington DC Cherry Blossoms Bloom?
Washington, DC’s cherry blossoms will likely hit their peak blooming period between March 29 – April 1, 2011, according to the National Park Service chief horticulturist Robert DeFeo. The peak blooming period falls in the middle of this year’s National Cherry Blossom Festival. The date when the Yoshino cherry blossoms reach their peak bloom varies from year to year, depending on the weather. They are considered to be at their peak when 70 percent of the blossoms are open. The blooming period can last up to 14 days. Photo © Bob Nichols/USDA Related Articles • Frequently Asked Questions About Washington, DC’s Cherry Trees • Cherry Blossom Photos •
