When will the U.S. dollar strengthen against the British Pound and Euro?
The dollar is not weak, just the opposite. It’s been far stronger than the Pound and Euro for 3 months now. The dollar continues to gain against the Pound and Euro every day during this economic crisis. Don’t confuse unit value of a currency with “strength”. Over the last century the Pound went from $4 down gradually to only slightly more than $1, back up past $2, and now back down down under $1.70. The unit values mean absolutely nothing, those differences are just historical accidents, because different currencies were created in different times and different places. In fact the Japanese Yen has been strongest of all recently, but one full Yen happens only to be worth about 1 cent and less than 1 Euro cent. But those Yen are worth more now against all currencies than they were worth a month ago. The direction of the exchange rate in recent months (or pick your time period) is the only measure of strength or weakness.
