LSU to Play Penn St. in Capital One Bowl – LSUSports.net We’re getting confirmation that Penn State will be playing LSU in the 2010 Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Fla. on January 1, 2010 at noon on ABC. The Big Ten’s second bowl bid went to Iowa in the Orange Bowl, certainly a surprise based on past TV ratings and fan support that Penn State has provided. Given that the Fiesta Bowl went with TCU vs. Boise State, I have to wonder if the BCS decided to base matchups strictly on rankings rather than TV ratings, fan support. I don’t have a problem with that mind you, but I would not have been heartbroken to see the Nittany Lions in the Orange Bowl. I’ll have more to write about over the next several days.
