When will the new cafe stop using styrofoam containers?
In an effort to reduce kitchen and cafeteria waste, Aramark is now serving dine-in meals on re-usable plates! Aligned with University of Phoenix’s efforts to embrace sustainability, they have purchased permanent plates and flatware to replace the thousands of Styrofoam containers, plastic forks, spoons and knives that are thrown away each week. These dishes and utensils will be washed and reused throughout the day to cut down on the amount of trash going to the landfills. Additionally, they will be phasing out all other Styrofoam products, which have proven difficult to recycle, and replacing them with biodegradable green products. In an effort to ramp up our recycling efforts in these areas, we are also adding a recycle bin for both plastic bottles and aluminum cans for your convenience. Finally, we are purchasing reusable baskets for burgers and sandwiches for dine-in orders.
