When will the lanes on Route 21 be increased from 2 to 4 lanes located on the section north of Route 137? Why hasn this construction been done?
The Illinois Department of Transportation would like to address the status of the Illinois Route 21 (Milwaukee Avenue) add lanes project from Illinois Route 120 to Illinois Route 137. It is recognized that Lake County is a rapidly growing area as is much of northeastern Illinois and our Department has been working closely with Lake County to identify and prioritize the traffic needs of the area. Lake County leaders have joined together to form the Lake County Transportation Alliance of which the Department is an active participant. One of the major tasks of the Alliance was to gather public input of transportation priorities through a series of public forums. The results of these forums were then presented at the 2007 Transportation Summit.
