del Toro is officially directing the The Hobbit and at present it is due out in 2011. The film is currently in pre-production with Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Guillermo del Toro writing. The film will be shot back to back along the side lines as LoTR with another film that is set to bridge the gap between The Hobbit and LoTR.
