Minnesota announces future games vs Texas, Navy Published : Friday, 18 Sep 2009, 1:00 PM CDT MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota on Friday announced an agreement to play a home-and-home football series with the University of Texas in 2015 and 2016. Mark your calendar! The Gophers and Longhorns will play at TCF Bank Stadium on Sept. 19, 2015 and Minnesota will travel to Texas for a on Sept. 17, 2016. The Gophers have only played Texas once in their 126-year history, with Minnesota winning 47-19 at home in 1936. Gophers head coach Tim Brewster served as tight ends coach at Texas from 1998-2001. In addition to the Texas series, the Gophers also announced games against Navy in 2019 and 2020. Minnesota will play a home-and-home football series with Texas in 2015 and 2016. Brewster coached under Mack Brown at North Carolina and Texas and has said from the day he was hired that he wanted to get the Longhorns on the schedule. Texas will come to TCF Bank Stadium on Sept. 19, 2015. The Gophers will visit Texas on Sept. 17, 2016. Brewster has been aggressive in scheduling some of the best teams in the country. The Gophers have already agreed to a series with perennial power USC that begins next year. The Gophers also announced on Friday that they have agreed to add Navy to the schedule in 2019 and 2020 and will play Indiana State in 2016.
