This year’s US Diversity Visa Program is called American Green Card Lottery DV-2009. Green Card Lottery DV-2009 will run from October 3, 2007 until noon on December 2, 2007. Winners may receive an Immigrant Visa, an Americn Green Card, and the right to live and work in the United States of America. Which countries qualify for the lottery? Nationals of “High Admission” countries are not eligible to participate in the Green Card Lottery Program. For DV-2009, the high admission countries were: Brazil, Canada, China (Mainland-Born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Russia, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam. Persons born in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and Taiwan are eligible to participate in the DV-2009 Green Card Lottery.
