When will the changes to documentation used for proposals and decision making come into effect?
All proposals submitted on or after 17 February 2009 will be made on a slightly revised application form, in which greater prominence is given to capturing information about potential impacts, pathways to achieving those impacts, and the adoption of interdisciplinary and innovative approaches. In the case of our open date schemes, we recognise that applicants may have been working on their proposals for a period of time. All applicants will be expected to complete the Impact Summary and Academic Beneficiaries sections with the form from this date. However, ESRC will not reject or in any other disadvantage applicants if they have not completed an Impact Plan on any proposals submitted before 1 April 2009. In such cases applicants should add the mandatory attachment which instead states that an Impact Plan is “not applicable” and briefly set out the reasoning behind this.
